Swansea City 2016-2017 Preview

Swansea City has an interesting, but tough task ahead of them. No one is sure of what to expect from this squad. After a terrible first half, the Swans brought themselves back from the relegation zone to finish 12th. A lot of questions face this team in the upcoming season. Will the new gaffer Francesco Guidolin keep his impressive streak going? Will there be any quality signings? Will Sigurdsson still be at his top form? I hope to find the answer in the first few weeks of the season, but of course that usually doesn’t happen.

The projected starting 11:

GK: Lukasz Fabianski.

LB: Neil Taylor/Franck Tabanou

CB: Ashley Williams/Federico Fernandez/Jordi Amat/ Mike Van der Hoorn.

RB: Angel Rangel/Kyle Naughton.

CM: Sung Yeung Ki/ Jack Cork/ Leroy Fer/ Leon Britton.

CAM: Gylfi Sigurdsson

RW: Andre Ayew/ Wayne Routledge

LW: Jefferson Montero

ST: ???. Dyer maybe? (Please not Gomis)

54940a9f4f474e22cbace92143ffe651Swansea has not signed anyone this transfer window other than keeping Leroy Fer and buying defender Mike Van der Hoorn. We need a striker very bad and I have heard rumors that they are either going for Wilfried Bony, Hal Robson-Kanu, or Christian Tello.

Swansea has several players that have left for various reasons. Eder was signed by Lille, Kyle Bartley was loaned to Leeds United, and Alberto Paloschi went to Atalanta.

Expectations:

The Swans are a bit unpredictable this year. If they sign a quality striker, then I can see them finishing somewhere from 6th to 9th . If they don’t, then I can only see them finishing 11th or 12th.
